Microsoft Power Platform and Power Automate consultancy

Your team may already work in Outlook, Teams, Excel and SharePoint. The next step is not necessarily another tool. It may be a well-designed flow, a small Power App or an approval queue that connects the work and gives someone clear ownership of exceptions.

What it is

Microsoft Power Platform consultancy brings together process design and practical implementation across Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot Studio and Dataverse. Each has a different job. Power Automate coordinates steps and integrations. Power Apps provides screens for people. Dataverse can organise application data and permissions. Copilot Studio can support conversational or agent-based interactions within an agreed design.

A Power Automate consultant UK businesses work with should start by checking the process and the environment, not by opening the flow designer. Who owns the records? Which account runs the flow? What happens when a connector fails? Can the user see that an approval is waiting? Those questions determine whether the automation is useful outside a demonstration.

Power Platform is not only about building quickly. Environments, access, data policies, deployment and maintenance need thought. Existing Microsoft licences may cover some capabilities and not others. We include licensing guidance in scoping, check the requirements against current product information and make clear which decisions need confirmation with your licence supplier or administrator.

What we automate

Teams approvals are a practical example: a request arrives, supporting information is gathered, a person receives the decision context and the approved result is recorded. A flow can notify the right owner without treating a chat message as permission for every action. The approval needs an audit trail and a defined outcome if nobody responds.

Power Apps can replace an awkward spreadsheet input process with a focused screen for submitting, checking or updating records. SharePoint may suit a straightforward list-based workflow; Dataverse may be more appropriate where relationships, application rules and permissions need greater structure. We assess the requirement instead of making every problem fit the same data store.

Other examples include document intake from Outlook, task routing, scheduled reconciliation, CRM updates and a Copilot Studio assistant that gathers information before a permitted action. Power Automate Desktop can help with a legacy application where a cloud connector is not available. These are illustrative patterns, subject to the connectors, licences and permissions in your environment.

How we work

We start with a Role Replication Sprint: five days focused on mapping, building and testing one role’s workflow. We agree the input, decision, action and exceptions with the process owner. Environment access and usable examples are needed before the proposed approach can be assessed. The sprint is a bounded engagement, not a promise that a whole platform estate will be production-ready in a week.

Full Deployment follows if the tested workflow is worth taking further. We agree the build scope, timeline and ownership. That includes environment strategy, connectors, connection accounts, data policies, testing and how changes reach production. If your IT team or a managed provider controls these settings, we work with that constraint rather than bypassing it.

Ongoing Support covers monitoring and optimisation once live. Failed runs should be visible to an accountable person, and the team should know how to recover an item without duplicating it. We also consider maintainability: naming, documentation and a clear owner are preferable to a collection of personal flows nobody else can support.

When it's not the right fit

Power Platform may not be the best choice where the required connectors, licences or governance constraints make the design unsuitable. A small task may already have a native Microsoft feature. A complex public product may need a different architecture. We compare the options rather than assuming your Microsoft subscription settles every technical decision.

If the process is undocumented or access cannot be authorised, building a flow is premature. Unclear approval rules and sensitive data also require proper decisions first. Bring those issues to the call. We can discuss whether a narrower process, a different automation approach or simply better operational guidance is the appropriate next step.

FAQs

Are Power Automate licences included?

No licence entitlement is assumed. We identify the capabilities a design uses and discuss licensing requirements during scoping. Confirm purchases and current terms with your licence supplier or Microsoft administrator.

Can you build Teams approval workflows?

Yes. We design the request, supporting information, decision and recorded outcome together. Permissions, reminders, unanswered requests and recovery are part of the workflow, not afterthoughts.

Do we need Dataverse?

Not always. The choice depends on the data model, application needs and access rules. A SharePoint list or an existing system may be appropriate for a simpler workflow.

Can Copilot Studio take actions?

It can be part of a design that uses approved tools and flows. We define the permitted actions, validation and human checkpoints before letting an interaction change business records.
